As the 2024 F1 season slowly comes to an end, Max Verstappen has shared his relaxed approach to the escalatimg championship fight with Lando Norris.

There are just six races left to decide who will be this year’s F1 champion and heading into the United States Grand Prix the battle between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen heats up.

The Briton is now only 52 points behind the Dutchman, who built his lead earlier this season. Paradoxically, the two rivals were separated once already by the same points gap after the Chinese Grand Prix at the end of April.

After Norris' maiden victory in Miami, McLaren has been on an upward trend, whereas Red Bull's current car issues began around the same time, with Verstappen's only win since then coming at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The final races feature more points available due to three sprints in addition to the six regular grand prix. In these events, Red Bull is counting on their new upgrades to perform well and help them secure both championships once again.

Max Verstappen, hunting his fourth consecutive title, explained that every race is important and that working upgrades will bring him much-needed comfort.

“I just want to have fun and try to do the best I can,” Verstappen told the official F1 channel.

“Every race is important. Naturally, this one is also very important and we want to do well.

“We’ll see with the upgrades we have what it does to the car, and also there’s a lot of changes to the track with the tarmac so we also need to get on top of that.

“If we improve the car then naturally we have more speed, so then it becomes a bit more comfortable.

“At the moment we know we are lacking quite a bit and we have to go at it step by step. There’s not many races left but I’m still confident that we can have good races.”

However, the three-time F1 champion mentioned that he wouldn’t describe it as "a big tragedy" if he were to lose the battle against Norris.

“Once I get in the car I always try to do the best I can.

“Of course I would like to win the championship, but it also needs to be realistic.

“We’ll try to do everything we can and if we are competitive enough then we can do that.

“If we are not, then we’re not. It’s as simple as that, life goes on. It’s not like if you don’t win it’s a big tragedy.”
