The Sunday race started with mostly sunny weather and few clouds around. The race started well for Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez who both got to the front quickly. On the other hand, Alex Marquez had a bad start and he fell to 4th place. On the straight there was a battle between Marc and his teammate Francesco Bagnaia for 2nd place. Meanwhile a little bit further down, Alex was defending his place against Pedro Acosta and Enea Bastianini who were behind him, yet Alex still had a long lap penalty from Brno.

On lap 2, Marc managed to overtake Bagnaia and hold his position. After the two laps the top 10 looked like this: Bezzecchi, Marc, Bagnaia, Alex, Acosta, Bastianini, Binder, Raul Fernandez, Fermin Aldeguer and Joan Mir. On lap 3, Bastianini made a mistake and he ran wide at Turn 1, losing positions.

On lap 4, Alex went to do the long lap penalty, and he fell to 11th place. Further back the grid, Jorge Martin was slowly making his way to the top 10, in 15th place. Meanwhile Bagnaia was defending his position from Acosta behind. Bezzecchi was still in the lead, with a gap 0.654, while Marc in second was slowly closing on the gap.

On lap 6, Alex was fighting for 10th place with Johann Zarco, while Fernandez was fighting for 5th place with Binder. At the end of lap 7, Fernandez managed to overtake Binder at the last turn, pushing Binder a bit off track, which allowed other two riders to overtake him as well.

On lap 8, Brad Binder had received track limit warning, in quite still early stages of the race. After many laps behind Zarco, Alex managed to overtake him and moved up to top 10. Meanwhile Marc caught up to Bezzecchi and was following him close behind. Yet it was noticeable that Yamaha were not doing good with all of their riders being outside top 15.

On lap 12, Marc was still behind Bezzecchi, while little bit further back, Aldeguer caught up to Acosta. The top 10 looked as following: Bezzecchi, Marc, Bagnaia, Acosta, Aldeguer, Fernandez, Bastianini, Mir, Binder, Alex.

After just passing halfway of the race, there was a yellow flag, caused by Jorge Martin crashing from the race. Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo was another rider who had received a track limit warning. Bastianini improved to the front, as he moved to 6th place, after overtaking Fernandez.

On lap 20, Acosta and Aldeguer both overtook Bagnaia moving to 3rd and 4th place. Marc managed to overtake Bezzecchi on the straight, almost making a collision. Yet Bezzecchi didn’t want to lose the position without a fight, and he managed to get the position back into the next turn. But this battle was soon over, as Marc took the lead from him. Fermin Aldeguer made a bold overtake on Acosta which ended successfully.

On lap 21, there was second yellow flag of the race, this time caused by technical problem, as Di Giannantonio's bike was on fire. So far the top 10 looked like this: Marc, Bezzecchi, Aldeguer, Acosta, Bastianini, Bagnaia, Mir, Binder, Fernandez, Alex.

Bastianini made an easy overtake on Bagnaia, who lost another position due to a mistake, as it was seen, that Bagnaia is starting to struggle with his bike. As if the action wasn’t enough, Aldeguer caught up to Bezzecchi in 2nd place, which soon he managed to do.

And with 3 laps to go, Brad Binder tried to overtake Bagnaia, but he made a mistake and lost more positions. To add to the drama, Bagnaia received a penalty and had to give 1 position back. Which he did, and soon he lost another position to Binder. Bagnaia received the penalty for gaining an advantage while going off the track, in previous lap.

On the last lap, Marc only delivered his first win in Austria in safe ride, while his brother Alex tried to overtake Fernandez. In second place finished Aldeguer, with Bezzecchi rounding out the podium.
