American famous streaming platform Netflix is set to introduce a new mini-series called “Senna”, which should be available on screens from November 29 this year.
This Fall, the highly anticipated dramatized story of Brazilian Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna will hit the screens.
Netflix's 'Senna', starring Gabriel Leone as the iconic driver, is set to premiere on November 29. The six-episode miniseries follows the three-time world champion’s meteoric rise and tragic death, showcasing key figures from the F1 world who shaped Senna's life both on and off the track.
On Wednesday, fans were treated to a first look at the actors portraying Ayrton Senna's parents, friends, and rivals through newly released photos from the streaming platform. Matt Mella will take on the role of Alain Prost, Senna's most intense rival, while Johannes Heinrichs will portray Niki Lauda and Hugo Bonemer will step into the role of Nelson Piquet.
Alice Wegmann will portray Senna's wife, Lilian de Vasconcellos, while Camila Márdila takes on the role of his sister, Viviane. Arnaud Viard is cast as former FIA president Jean-Marie Balestre, with Patrick Kennedy playing McLaren team principal Ron Dennis, and Steven Mackintosh appearing as Williams founder Frank Williams.
The cast also includes Gabriel Louchard as Brazilian commentator Galvão Bueno, Julia Foti as Senna's partner Adriane Galisteu, Susana Ribeiro and Marco Ricca as his parents, João Maestri as Rubens Barrichello, Pâmela Tomé as TV host Xuxa Meneghel, Lucca Messer as Roland Ratzenberger, and Kaya Scodelario as a fictional journalist.
Netflix revealed that 'Senna' will explore the driver's racing career and personal relationships, incorporating fictionalized elements, much like the storytelling seen in 'The Crown' and 'Chernobyl'.
The official Netflix press release says: "The story starts at the beginning of the three-time Formula 1 champion's motor racing career, following him from his karting days, through his move to England to compete in Formula Ford, and continues up to the tragic accident in Imola, Italy, during the San Marino Grand Prix."
