Raul Fernandez made an excellent start to the German Grand Prix weekend by setting the fastest time in Friday morning practice at the Sachsenring. The Trackhouse Aprilia rider finished just ahead of Marc Marquez, who recovered well after an early crash to take second place. Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the top three in a closely fought opening session.

The opening practice session began in dry conditions, and the riders quickly started to improve their lap times. Marc Marquez was one of the first riders to push hard, but his session took a small setback when he crashed at Turn 3 around 40 minutes before the end. The Ducati rider lost the front of his bike, but the crash was not serious. He returned to the garage before going back out on track later in the session.

After returning to the circuit, Marquez showed his speed once again. He completed a number of fast laps and moved to the top of the times before Fernandez set an even quicker lap. In the end, Marquez missed the fastest time by only 0.051 seconds, proving that he remained one of the quickest riders despite his earlier crash.

Fernandez left his best lap until the closing stages of the session. His time of 1:20.829 could not be beaten, and he finished the morning at the top of the standings. It was an excellent start to the weekend for the Spanish rider and his Trackhouse Aprilia team.

Fabio Di Giannantonio finished the session in third place after another strong performance. The Italian rider was only a small distance behind the two fastest riders and stayed close to the front throughout the session. Joan Mir continued his encouraging form by finishing fourth for Honda, while Jack Miller completed the top five after another competitive morning.

The top five riders were separated by only 0.171 seconds, showing just how close the competition was during the opening session. With such a small gap between the leading riders, the battle for the fastest times is expected to continue throughout the rest of the weekend.

Marco Bezzecchi made a successful return after his heavy crash at the Dutch Grand Prix in Assen. The Aprilia rider finished eighth in the session and was back on track after being declared fit to race in Germany.

Championship leader Jorge Martin ended the opening practice in tenth place. Although he did not finish among the very fastest riders, he remained inside the top ten as he began his weekend at the Sachsenring.
