Marc Márquez could reach two very big goals in the 2026 MotoGP season. If he does, his name will be even stronger among the greatest riders in motorbike racing history.

Márquez is already one of the most successful riders ever. He is known for his aggressive style, strong braking and fearlessness on the bike. Fans around the world see him as one of MotoGP’s true stars.

At the San Marino Grand Prix in September last year, Márquez won his 73rd MotoGP race. That win also took his total number of victories in all classes to 99. With several races still left in the season, many people believed he would soon reach 100 career wins.

Sadly, that did not happen. After securing his seventh MotoGP title and ninth world championship overall in Japan, Márquez’s season came to a sudden end. A crash with Marco Bezzecchi at the start of the Indonesian Grand Prix caused another serious injury to his right shoulder. Because of this, he missed the final four races of the year.

As a result, Márquez had to wait longer to reach his 100th career win.

The good news is that the 2026 season could give him early chances to reach this special number. Last year, Márquez won the first race of the season in Thailand. The Buriram circuit suits his riding style very well, so it could again be the place where he reaches 100 wins.

If he does not win in Thailand or Brazil, there is Austin in the United States. This is one of Márquez’s favourite tracks. He has won there many times in the past, even though he crashed last season after pushing too hard.

Another big target for Márquez is Valentino Rossi’s MotoGP win record. Rossi won 76 races in the MotoGP era. Márquez is now just three wins behind that number.

If Márquez were to win the first three races of the 2026 season, he could match Rossi’s record in Austin. That may be difficult, but over a long season it is very possible.

Races in Spain and Italy, such as Jerez, Barcelona and Mugello, could also offer strong chances. With 22 races on the calendar, Márquez will have plenty of opportunities.

Last season he won 11 races, which shows he is still at the top of his game. If he stays healthy, he will start 2026 as one of the main favourites for race wins.

It is important to note that Valentino Rossi still holds the overall premier class win record with 89 victories. This includes wins from the older 500cc era, before MotoGP officially began.

Even so, Márquez is closer than ever to rewriting the history books. The 2026 season could be one of the most important of his career.
