MotoGP motogp2025season motogpaustria winners&losers summaries
The Austrian Grand Prix delivered one of the most dramatic weekends of the MotoGP season so far. Marc Márquez showed total domination once again, but not everyone left Spielberg happy. While riders like Aldeguer and Bezzecchi had reasons to celebrate, teams like Yamaha and VR46 suffered a weekend full of problems. Here are the biggest winners and losers from the Red Bull Ring.
Winner: Marc Márquez
This one is clear to everyone, Marc was the biggest winner of the Austrian Grand Prix. He won both the sprint race and the main race. This was his first ever win at the Red Bull Ring. He rode nearly perfect all weekend and his bike worked very well. His victory only increased his lead in the championship and showed a clear dominance even when Aldeguer started to catch him near the end of the race. Marc proved once again why he is the strongest rider of the season.
Loser: Yamaha
Yamaha had a weekend to forget and so far the worst weekend of the season. Their bikes were too slow on the straights and the riders could not fight with the front group. It didn’t help that the four Yamaha riders were together at the end of the grid during the majority of the race, showing that their problems continue even after the summer break with no solution in sight for now.
Winner: Fermín Aldeguer
Even though he did not win the race, he was very close to doing so, and that is why he is still a big winner. He started from 6th place and managed to overtake many riders and finish in second place, which is an amazing result for a rookie who is still learning. His strong form in the final laps even made Marc Márquez nervous.
Loser: VR46
VR46 had a tough weekend. Their riders were struggling. Franco Morbidelli is still recovering from his shoulder injury while Fabio Di Giannantonio had to retire as his bike was on fire. They were far from the front and neither of them could fight that much. Overall, their bike setup did not work on this track.
Winner: Marco Bezzecchi
Marco Bezzecchi was personally a winner because he finished third on the Aprilia. He started from pole and led part of the race. Even though he could not fight for the win, a podium is still very good for him and for Aprilia, who have not had many podiums this season.
Loser: Francesco Bagnaia
With high expectations for Francesco Bagnaia after the summer break, it was completely opposite. He usually does well in Austria, but this time he struggled and finished in eighth. His bike did not accelerate well out of the corners and he was very frustrated. He even asked Ducati to explain it after the race.
Winner: KTM
KTM as a manufacturer is a clear winner. The Austrian crowds supported them and their bikes looked quick in practice and qualifying. Even if they did not get a podium, Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta showed good pace during the race.
