Pedro Acosta believes Marc Marquez had a special advantage during the MotoGP Sprint race in Hungary. The KTM rider was impressed by Marquez’s incredible grip and pace from the very first lap, which helped the Ducati star secure a comfortable victory and leave his rivals fighting for second place.
Pedro Acosta believes Marc Marquez had a clear advantage during the MotoGP Sprint race in Hungary. The young KTM rider said Marquez was able to find much more grip than the other riders, which helped him pull away at the front of the race.
Marquez started from pole position and quickly built a gap over the rest of the field. Acosta finished second, but he was unable to match the pace of the Ducati rider. By the end of the race, Marquez had comfortably secured victory after leading from the first lap.
After the race, Acosta explained that Marquez looked extremely strong from the moment the lights went out. He noticed how much speed Marquez carried when accelerating out of Turn 4 and felt that the Ducati had far better grip than any other bike on the circuit. According to Acosta, this difference was difficult to understand because other riders needed several laps before they could reach their best pace.
The Spanish KTM rider also pointed out that he was not the only one who needed time to get up to speed. He felt that other leading riders experienced a similar problem before eventually finding a stable rhythm. This made Marquez’s immediate speed even more impressive.
Acosta does not think the result would have changed even if he had managed to overtake Marquez at the start. In his view, Marquez was simply faster in key parts of the track and would probably have found a way back into the lead.
The performance continued Marquez’s strong form at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Ducati rider had already shown excellent pace in practice and qualifying before turning pole position into a dominant Sprint victory. His ability to push hard from the opening lap proved to be one of the biggest differences between himself and his rivals.
Despite finishing second, Acosta was pleased to return to the podium and remained optimistic about the main Grand Prix. He said his team would study the data carefully and look for ways to close the gap to Marquez. Acosta is still chasing his first MotoGP Grand Prix victory and hopes further improvements will allow him to challenge at the front on Sunday.
