MotoGP fans can now mark their calendars! The 2026 season will kick off with the official launch in Kuala Lumpur on the 6th and 7th of February. Ahead of the big event, riders and teams will test at Sepang and Buriram to prepare for another thrilling year.
2026 will start with the Season Launch, now confirmed for Kuala Lumpur on the 6th and 7th of February. Now we know the full plan leading up to the start of the new season.
It all begins with the Shakedown Test at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit at the end of January. This session is only for factory test riders, rookies, and manufacturers with concessions.
After that comes three full days of testing at Sepang, where the entire grid will take to the track before the official Season Launch in Malaysia’s bright and busy capital city. The event will take place across the 6th and 7th of February, bringing fans and teams together for the first big moment of the year.
The final test before the season begins will be at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram. Taking place on the 21st and 22nd of February, it’s the last chance for riders and teams to make changes before the racing starts for real.
Here is the full schedule:
Shakedown Test: 29th–30th January
Sepang Test: 3rd–4th February
Season Launch: 6th–7th February
Buriram Test: 21st–22nd February
And don’t forget the Valencia Test, right after the 2025 season finale. It’s where we’ll first see new riders, upgraded bikes, and all the fresh faces getting ready for another thrilling year of racing.
