Alex Marquez had surgery after his crash in the Dutch Grand Prix. At the same time, Luca Marini got back on his bike for a test, just one month after his injury in Japan
Alex Marquez had a successful surgery after his crash in the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend. During the race on Sunday, Marquez crashed into Pedro Acosta on lap 6. He broke his left hand in the accident. His team said the surgery went well, and they will soon decide if he can race in the next round in Germany or not.
“The surgery on his left hand was successful,” the Gresini team posted. “We will give more news about his recovery soon.”
He will not be the only rider returning, as Luca Marini rode his Honda again at a private test in Brno. He returned to the bike one month after he was injured in Japan, where he was testing for the Suzuka 8 Hours race and crashed at high speed. He had several injuries, including a lung problem and many bruises. Now, just 33 days later, he is healthy enough to ride again in the test.
Marini’s teammate, Joan Mir, was also supposed to join the Brno test. But he had a hard crash at the Dutch Grand Prix, where he hit a fallen bike on the track and got hurt. The doctors did a CT scan and found no broken bones. Yet, he is still in pain and has been told to rest for at least one day.
