MotoGP Fermin Aldeguer Gresini Racing summaries motogpupdate
Young Spanish MotoGP rider Fermín Aldeguer has suffered a serious leg injury before the 2026 season, leaving him in a fight to be fit for the opening race in Thailand.
Fermín Aldeguer, the young Spanish rider for Gresini in MotoGP, badly broke his leg before the 2026 season. He fractured his left femur during a training accident in Valencia, Spain, in early January.
Doctors quickly took him to hospital and he had successful surgery to fix the broken bone.
Because the femur is a large and important bone, it normally takes a long time to heal. For that reason, Aldeguer will miss the pre-season tests in Malaysia and Thailand. Tests are some of the most important preparation events before the season starts.
Aldeguer’s physiotherapist, Aitor Tomás, has said clearly that it is impossible for him to be ready for these early tests. But Tomás also said they will fight to get him fit for the first race of the season in Thailand from 27 February to 1 March.
Tomás has worked with many top riders before, such as Aleix Espargaró, Dani Pedrosa and Pedro Acosta.
Tomás also talked about a similar injury that Pedro Acosta had in the past. Acosta was able to ride again about 15 days after his injury, but Tomás added that everyone heals differently and Aldeguer’s injury looks a bit more complex.
At the moment, Gresini Racing has not announced whether they would choose a replacement rider for Aldeguer if he still cannot race at the start of the season.
The big question now is whether Aldeguer will be ready to ride in Thailand. So far, everyone in MotoGP will be watching his recovery closely.
