Jorge Martin is set to take part in a private MotoGP test with Aprilia this Wednesday, July 9th, at the Misano circuit. The reigning world champion has been out of action for several months due to injury and is preparing for a potential return at next week’s Czech Republic Grand Prix.
Aprilia has announced that Jorge Martin will take part in a private MotoGP test this Wednesday, July 9th, at the Misano circuit in Italy. This test is part of his preparation to return to racing after being away for several months due to injury.
Martin has missed the last six races of the season. He was injured earlier this year and hasn’t raced since the Qatar Grand Prix. Before that, he had already missed the first three races of the season in Thailand, Argentina, and Austin due to another injury.
Thanks to a new rule, which Aprilia helped to create, riders who miss three or more races due to injury can now do a private test before returning. This rule gives Martin a chance to get back on the RS-GP, Aprilia’s current MotoGP bike, before he officially returns to racing.
Last week, Martin took an important step by riding an Aprilia RSV4 at the Barcelona circuit. He completed almost 100 laps and reported feeling good afterwards. However, MotoGP bikes are faster and more demanding, so the upcoming test at Misano is a key part of his recovery.
Although he has been cleared by doctors to ride in a test, Martin still isn’t ready to race. He will miss the German Grand Prix at Sachsenring. Before he can return to racing, he will need to pass one final medical check after the Misano test.
Everything is pointing toward Martin making his official comeback at the Czech Republic Grand Prix next week, which is the last race before the summer break. Coming back now is important for him, not only to stop the long break, but also to give him a bit more time to rest again before the next part of the season begins.
If everything goes well in the test, fans can expect to see him back in action very soon.
