Marco Bezzecchi will not race in the German MotoGP Grand Prix after suffering a broken collarbone during the weekend at Sachsenring. The Aprilia rider crashed in qualifying and was later diagnosed with a displaced fracture of his left collarbone.
The Italian rider was taken out of the German GP weekend because he needs surgery. He will return to Italy to have the operation and start his recovery.
Bezzecchi was already dealing with pain after a heavy crash at the Dutch Grand Prix. Before the German race, he said he was not fully fit and expected a difficult weekend.
The injury is a big problem for Bezzecchi because he was fighting at the front of the MotoGP championship. Missing the German race means he will lose an important chance to score points before the summer break.
Aprilia and Bezzecchi will now focus on his recovery. The team hopes he can return to the bike as soon as he is fully ready.
