Marco Bezzecchi wins sprint race at Autralian Grand Prix

The MotoGP sprint race delivered drama from the very start, as Marco Bezzecchi collided with a seagull before going on to dominate the action. Alex Márquez had a brilliant launch but couldn’t hold off Raul Fernandez and Bezzecchi in a thrilling battle that saw constant position changes, yellow flags, and tight fights for the podium.

The warm-up for the sprint started with Bezzecchi hitting a seagull from the start. But luckily no harm to the animal later. The sprint race could start. The start went super well for Alex Márquez, who got 1st place into turn 1, with Raul Fernandez right behind him. However, Raul Fernandez overtook Márquez into turn 4. And into turn 5, Márquez lost another position to Bezzecchi. Quartararo lost positions after his start and dropped to 5th place. Meanwhile Jack Miller dropped to 4th place but was holding on.

However, Fernandez with Bezzecchi made a gap over the rest of the grid. After lap 1, the top 10 looked like this: Fernandez, Bezzecchi, Márquez, Miller, Acosta, Quartararo, Espargaro, Di Giannantonio, Aldeguer, Marini. On lap 2, there was the first yellow flag, caused by Brad Binder crashing and retiring from the sprint. Meanwhile, Acosta caught up to Miller.

Meanwhile, Bagnaia had dropped to 17th place while Di Giannantonio was right behind Espargaro. Meanwhile, the duo at the front furthered the gap even more to the rest of the grid. On lap 5, Luca Salvadori managed to overtake Bagnaia, who was now in 19th place.

On lap 5, the top 10 looked like this: Fernandez, Bezzecchi, Márquez, Miller, Acosta, Quartararo, Di Giannantonio, Espargaro, Marini, Mir.

And while Miller managed to overtake Márquez for a moment, into the last lap Márquez retook his position back. Meanwhile, the front duo now had a gap of over 2 seconds. Bezzecchi, who sent it to overtake Fernandez, made a mistake and ran wide. Meanwhile, a bit back, we saw a battle between Márquez, Miller, and Acosta, where Acosta overtook both riders, with Miller behind him and Márquez losing 2 positions.

Above, the camera focused on the battle up front, between Fernandez and Bezzecchi. On lap 10, Bezzecchi took the lead from Fernandez. Meanwhile, the top 10 looked like this: Bezzecchi, Fernandez, Acosta, Miller, Márquez, Di Giannantonio, Quartararo, Espargaro, Marini, Mir.

On lap 11, there was a second yellow flag of the session, this one was caused by Fermín Aldeguer crashing at turn 4, while Bezzecchi was in the lead. Meanwhile, Márquez lost another place to Di Giannantonio.

Entering the last lap, Bezzecchi had a gap of over 2 seconds to Fernandez, while the battle for 3rd place continued. However, Di Giannantonio used the situation of Miller trying to overtake Acosta. In the end, Acosta took 3rd place, with Miller in 4th. Marco Bezzecchi took the win, with Fernandez in 2nd place.
