Red Bull is set to implement several major changes to its management team for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Among those, Max Verstappen’s race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, often known as ‘GP’, will step up to the position of Head of Racing.

This follows the news that Sporting Director Jonathan Wheatley will depart to take on the role of Team Principal at Sauber/Audi next year. As a result, Red Bull has decided to revamp its leadership structure. Instead of selecting a direct replacement for Wheatley, his responsibilities will be distributed among several current team members.

In his new role, Lambiase will lead all trackside operations and oversee various other areas. He will report directly to Technical Director Pierre Wache. At the same time, he will still remain Verstappen’s race engineer.

Steve Knowles will be promoted from his senior strategy role to Head of Sporting Regulations, acting as the liaison between the team and the FIA, and reporting to Lambiase. Richard Wolverson will take on the role of Head of Race Team Operations, overseeing daily trackside activities. Gerrard O'Reilly will be elevated to Head of Logistics, while Phil Turner will move up from Chief Mechanic to Race Team Factory Operations Manager.

All of these changes will be fully implemented before the start of the 2025 season as Red Bull is getting ready for a fresh start without their important puzzle piece, designer guru Adrian Newey, who will begin his new journey in Aston Martin next year in March.
