Brazilian rider Diogo Moreira says that Marc Márquez helped him a lot before his first race in MotoGP. The young rider believes the advice and support from the experienced champion helped him make a big step forward before his debut in the top class of motorcycle racing.

Moreira joined MotoGP in 2026 after winning the Moto2 World Championship in 2025. The Brazilian rider moved up to the premier class with the LCR Honda MotoGP Team. At only 21 years old, he is one of the most exciting new riders in the championship.

Before the season started, Moreira trained and spoke often with Márquez. The Spanish star, who is one of the most successful riders in MotoGP history, shared his experience and gave the rookie useful advice. Moreira said that learning from Márquez helped him understand the MotoGP bike better and improve his riding.

The Brazilian rider has admired Márquez for many years. He said that training with him has always been a dream. When they ride together, Moreira tries to watch what Márquez does and learn as much as possible. He believes this helped him prepare for the big step from Moto2 to MotoGP.

Moreira’s first race in MotoGP was at the Thai Grand Prix in Buriram. He had a strong start to his career and finished 13th in the race. This result allowed him to score his first points in the premier class, which was an impressive achievement for a rookie rider.

There was also a funny moment during the race weekend. Moreira revealed that he even used gloves borrowed from Márquez during the race because his own gloves did not fit properly. He joked that maybe the gloves could help him gain a few extra seconds on track.

Despite the good result, Moreira says he still has a lot to learn. MotoGP bikes are much more powerful and complex than Moto2 machines. Riders must understand new electronics, braking systems and aerodynamics. Because of this, the Brazilian knows that adapting to the class will take time.

Even so, his first race showed strong potential. Fans in Brazil are especially excited about his progress. The country has not had many riders in MotoGP in recent years, so Moreira’s success could help bring more attention to motorcycle racing in Brazil.

With help from experienced riders like Márquez and more time on the MotoGP bike, Moreira hopes to keep improving during his rookie season. If he continues to learn and develop, he could become one of the future stars of the championship.
