A unique racing suit and helmet worn by MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi are being auctioned to raise money for UNICEF’s Road Safety programme. The rare items, created to mark Rossi’s 46th birthday, have already attracted high bids from collectors around the world.
A very rare Valentino Rossi helmet and racing suit have been given to UNICEF by the company Dainese. They are now being sold in an auction, and people have already offered a very large amount of money to buy them.
Valentino Rossi is one of the most famous motorcycle racers in the world. Anything connected to him is very popular with fans and collectors. This new auction item is extra special. It includes a unique black and gold racing suit and a matching helmet, made to celebrate Rossi’s 46th birthday earlier this year.
The suit is a special Demone GP D-air 3X design, and the helmet was made by AGV. Only 46 sets were made, because Rossi’s racing number is 46. The one being sold is number 1, and Rossi wore it himself during a track day at the Mugello circuit.
All the money from the auction will go to UNICEF’s Road Safety programme. This programme works to make roads safer for children around the world. Every day, more than 600 children aged 5 to 19 die in road accidents. UNICEF wants safer speed limits near schools, better pavements and crossings, and stronger rules about wearing helmets and using car seats.
The auction ends on Saturday, 29 November at 11:59pm UTC. At the moment, the highest bid is €38,150.
This is not the only Rossi item sold this year. The BMW M4 GT3 race car he drove in his first 24 Hours of Le Mans was also sold at auction. It was expected to make a high price, but it sold for even more, £561,480.
Rossi himself is racing this weekend at his own VR46 Ranch. He is hosting the 11th 100km of Champions, a fun event on the dirt track at his ranch. Many famous riders have joined him, including Francesco Bagnaia, Pedro Acosta and John McGuinness.
