French MotoGP rider Johann Zarco says he could have another chance to win his home race at Le Mans if the weather becomes difficult again this weekend. However, the Honda rider does not believe he should be called the favourite for the French Grand Prix.

Last year, Zarco surprised everybody by winning the French Grand Prix in wet conditions. It was a historic moment because he became the first French rider to win the race in 71 years. More than 120,000 fans celebrated with him at Le Mans after a brilliant ride in changing weather.

This year, weather forecasts again suggest there could be rain during the race weekend. Because of that, many fans are hoping Zarco can repeat his famous victory. The 35-year-old admitted that rain could improve his chances, especially because Honda is still not one of the strongest bikes on the grid.

Zarco explained that he feels strongest when the track is damp or when conditions are changing. He said these moments allow him to use his experience and riding style to make a difference against faster bikes. In fully wet conditions, he believes the advantage is smaller because riders need time to build confidence.

The Frenchman also showed strong pace recently at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez. During wet qualifying, he fought for pole position and started from the front row. Although he later finished seventh in dry conditions, his performance confirmed that he remains very competitive in the rain.

Honda has improved compared to previous seasons, but Zarco still knows that regular podium finishes are difficult. Earlier this year, he said his goal for 2026 was to continue dreaming about victories and fight for podium opportunities whenever possible.

Despite the excitement around him, Zarco is trying to stay calm before his home race. He joked that French fans may be the only people hoping for rain on Sunday because they want to see another magical result from their local hero.
