The new Formula 1 season begins this weekend in Melbourne. The Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park will host the opening round of the 2026 championship, with teams and drivers finally starting the fight for points after winter testing.
After months of preparation and pre-season testing, Formula 1 returns with the first race weekend of the year. Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit traditionally provides an exciting start to the season, as the true performance of the cars is revealed for the first time in competitive conditions.The weekend programme includes three practice sessions where teams will fine-tune their setups, followed by Saturday’s qualifying that will determine the starting grid. Sunday will then feature the first Grand Prix of the 2026 season.
