Alex Márquez was the fastest rider on Friday at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez. He led a strong Ducati performance, while Pedro Acosta had a difficult day and must go through Q1.
Friday afternoon practice at the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix was fast, tense, and very important for qualifying. The session decided which riders would go straight into Q2, so everyone pushed hard in the final minutes.
Álex Márquez was again the fastest rider. He set a very strong lap near the end of the session and no one could beat it. His pace was excellent all afternoon, and he looked fully in control. He managed his tyres well and delivered his best lap at the perfect moment, showing great confidence. Being clearly ahead of the others makes him one of the main favourites for the rest of the weekend.
It was also a very strong session for Ducati. The bikes worked very well at Jerez, especially in the hot afternoon conditions. Fabio Di Giannantonio secured second place, completing a Ducati one-two in the session. This result confirmed that Ducati has found good speed and grip at this track, which is very important for both qualifying and the race.
Several other riders were close behind and showed good pace. Marco Bezzecchi stayed competitive and was among the fastest throughout the session. Marc Márquez also looked strong and secured a place in Q2. The level at the front was very high, but none of them could match the final lap from Álex Márquez.
There was some pressure and small mistakes as riders tried to improve their times. Francesco Bagnaia had a tricky session, including a crash earlier in the day, but he managed to recover and set a good enough lap to move safely into Q2. It was not easy for him, but he avoided a bigger problem.
The biggest disappointment of the afternoon was Pedro Acosta. He struggled to find speed and could not improve enough in the final minutes. As a result, he missed the top ten and must go through Q1. This makes his weekend more difficult, as he now has an extra step before he can fight for a good grid position.
In the end, the afternoon practice showed clear trends. Álex Márquez is in top form and leading the field, while Ducati looks very competitive overall. At the same time, some riders, especially Acosta, still have work to do before qualifying. The next sessions will show if anyone can close the gap or if Márquez will stay ahead.
