Alex Marquez is preparing to make his MotoGP comeback at the Czech Grand Prix in Brno, around a month after suffering serious injuries in a heavy crash at the Catalan Grand Prix. The Gresini Racing rider has been cleared to take part in FP1, but doctors will assess his condition afterwards before deciding whether he can continue for the rest of the weekend.
Alex Marquez is set to return to MotoGP action at the Czech Grand Prix, around a month after suffering serious injuries in a major crash at the Catalan Grand Prix in Barcelona.
The Gresini Racing rider fractured a vertebra in his neck and also injured his shoulder in the accident. Since then, he has been working hard on his recovery and has missed several races while healing.
Marquez has now been declared fit enough to take part in the first practice session (FP1) at Brno. However, his return is not fully confirmed yet. After FP1, MotoGP's medical team will carry out another examination to assess his physical condition and decide whether he is fit to continue for the rest of the race weekend.
If the doctors are satisfied with his condition after the session, Marquez will be cleared to take part in the remaining practice sessions, qualifying and the races. If there are any concerns about his fitness or safety, he may not be allowed to continue.
The Spaniard will be eager to get back on his Ducati after a difficult period on the sidelines. His return would be a welcome boost for Gresini Racing as the MotoGP season continues.
