Alex Márquez has pulled out of the Czech MotoGP round at Brno as he continues his recovery from injuries suffered in a crash at Catalunya. Despite attempts to return, he was not yet fit enough to race safely.
Alex Márquez will not take further part in the Brno MotoGP after deciding to withdraw from the event.
He had travelled to the Czech Grand Prix and was trying to return to racing after a serious crash at the Catalunya round last month. That accident left him with injuries including a broken collarbone and a small fracture in a neck vertebra, which required surgery and a period of recovery.
Although he was working hard to be fit in time for Brno, he was not fully ready to race at the demanding circuit. After taking part in the weekend sessions, the decision was made for him to step back from the event in order to continue his recovery.
His team had already been managing his return carefully, with replacement riders stepping in during earlier races while he recovered. Brno was seen as a possible comeback, but his condition showed that more time was needed before racing at full speed again.
The focus for Alex Márquez now is to keep recovering properly so he can return later in the season when he is fully fit, rather than risking further injury by coming back too soon.
