MotoGP leaders say there is no reason to worry about the sport’s return to Brazil, even though work at the race track is still not finished.

MotoGP is planning to race in Brazil again for the first time in more than 20 years. The race will take place at the Ayrton Senna Circuit in Goiania. It is scheduled to be the second round of the 2026 season, on the weekend of 20–22 March.

The circuit last hosted MotoGP races in the late 1980s. Since then, it has not been used at world championship level and no longer meets modern safety standards. Because of this, major changes are needed before MotoGP can race there again.

Work at the track has been going on for several months. The racing surface is being completely resurfaced with new asphalt. The paddock area is also being improved. This includes making the pit entry wider and upgrading the medical centre, which is very important for rider safety.

Because the deadline is getting closer, some people have feared the race could be delayed. In recent years, MotoGP has had problems with new or returning circuits not being ready on time.

However, the sport’s governing body, the FIM, says everything is moving in the right direction. Paul Duprac, who is in charge of track inspections for the FIM, says the work is progressing well.

He explained that teams are working very hard to finish on time. An FIM official is also closely watching the project. Every week, the FIM receives photos and videos showing how the work is going.

According to the latest updates, the first layers of new asphalt have already been laid. Access roads are ready, and most safety barriers have been installed.

Duprac said there is currently no cause for concern and that the Brazilian Grand Prix will take place as planned.

MotoGP has been cautious in recent years after problems at other circuits. Hungary’s return to MotoGP was delayed because its track was not ready. Planned races in Kazakhstan and Finland were cancelled entirely due to construction issues.

For now, MotoGP remains confident that Brazil will successfully return to the calendar in 2026, bringing the world championship back to South America after a long absence.
