This weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix is set to be unpredictable, with changing weather likely to shape the race and challenge drivers and teams alike.

Formula 1 returns this weekend to one of the most exciting circuits on the calendar, Interlagos in São Paulo, Brazil. After a calm week following the Mexican Grand Prix, teams and fans are looking forward to what could be another dramatic race. The track itself is not the most difficult, but the weather in Brazil always brings uncertainty, and that is what makes this race so unpredictable and exciting every year.

There is only one practice session before the competitive action begins, and forecasts are warning of rain on each day of the weekend, especially on Saturday when the sprint race takes place. Teams will be preparing their wet weather gear and adjusting their strategies to deal with changing conditions.

Last year’s Brazilian Grand Prix was full of surprises. Two cars failed to start, two others did not finish, and one driver was disqualified. Max Verstappen still managed to win, just as he did the year before, but the rest of the podium was unexpected. The Alpine drivers, Esteban Ocon, who is now with Haas, and Pierre Gasly, both finished in the top three. In 2023, six cars failed to finish the race, showing just how much the weather can affect the outcome at Interlagos.

This year's weather forecast suggests a mixed weekend. Friday should start mostly sunny and dry, but showers could develop later in the day. Temperatures will be around 25°C during practice and could reach 28°C for the sprint qualifying session, with a 40% chance of rain.

On Saturday, conditions are expected to be much more unsettled, with a high risk of showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day. Strong winds are also likely, and temperatures will range between 24 and 26°C. The chance of rain is about 80%.

Sunday should be cooler, with the race starting in cloudy conditions and temperatures around 18°C. There might be some light rain early in the day, but the chance of showers during the race is lower, around 20 to 25%.
