Ducati have revealed two new retro-inspired liveries for the post-season MotoGP test in Valencia. Francesco Bagnaia and Nicolò Bulega will both use the special designs, with Bulega still replacing the injured Marc Márquez. Bagnaia’s bike will appear in a mainly silver paint scheme based on the Ducati 750 Imola Desmo that Paul Smart rode to victory at the Imola 200 in 1972, a race that helped make Ducati famous in international motorcycling. Bulega’s Desmosedici will feature a mostly yellow design inspired by the Ducati 750 Supersport Desmo used by Franco Uncini when he won the Italian 750cc championship in 1975. The modern liveries are not exact copies of the originals because of different sponsors and technical changes, but they clearly honour Ducati’s racing past.

Ducati have a habit of using special colours at the Valencia test, having already shown unique black-and-red, red-and-white and themed designs in previous years for riders such as Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini and Marc Márquez. The new liveries appear just after the final race weekend of the season at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, where Bulega earned a single point and Bagnaia finished 14th in the Sprint before crashing out of the main race after early contact with Johann Zarco, who later received a long-lap penalty.

The retro colours also link to Ducati’s preparations for their 100th anniversary in 2026, with both designs celebrating important moments from the company’s rich racing history. The season again highlighted Ducati’s strength in international competition. Marc Márquez secured the MotoGP World Championship with five races remaining, his brother Álex Márquez finished second to give Ducati a one-two result. Ducati also collected another Manufacturers’ title in Superbike and made further progress in off-road racing, confirming their strong position across several major championships.
