Formula 1 has adjusted Sunday’s schedule in Miami, moving the race start earlier to avoid forecast thunderstorms and lightning risk.
Formula 1 has decided to bring forward the start of the Miami Grand Prix after weather forecasts predicted strong thunderstorms for Sunday afternoon and evening.
In the United States, safety regulations regarding lightning are strict, and public events cannot take place if there is a significant risk. With storms expected later in the day, F1 opted to act in advance and avoid a possible disruption to the race. Originally scheduled for 16:00 local time, the Grand Prix will now start at 13:00 local time (19:00 CET). The same precaution was last taken during the Sao Paulo Grand Prix two years ago, when the schedule was also adjusted due to weather concerns.
The change also affects the Formula 2 race, which will now begin earlier at 9:25 local time (15:25 CET).
Organisers will continue to monitor the weather situation closely throughout the weekend, but the revised schedule is intended to ensure the race can go ahead without interruption.
