Fermín Aldeguer has been given a post-sprint time penalty after the Malaysian Sprint at Sepang, which has changed the final results of the short race. Aldeguer originally finished third after starting from sixth place, but his race weekend was far from smooth. During qualifying, the young rider crashed in Q1, then had a second unusual accident in the paddock while riding his bike back to the pits. Despite these problems, he still managed to reach Q2 and secure a strong starting position for the Sprint.

However, after the race, the stewards handed him a time penalty for a rules infringement. The details of the penalty have not been published immediately, but it was enough to drop him from third place in the final standings.

Because of this penalty, Pedro Acosta has been promoted to third, giving his team his fifth podium for the 2025 season.

The penalty also affected Marini, Quartararo and Bezzecchi, as Aldeguer fell to seventh place. With this promotion, Bezzecchi received one more championship point. That extra point puts him in the fight with Francesco Bagnaia for third place in the riders’ standings.
