Alex Márquez took his third win of the 2025 MotoGP season at the Malaysian Grand Prix after an impressive performance at Sepang Circuit. Márquez, who rides for Gresini Ducati, started the weekend with some difficulties but managed to turn everything around by race day.

Marquez had arrived in Malaysia as one of the favourites for victory because he had been very strong during pre-season testing at the same track in February. However, he soon discovered that things had changed a lot since then. The track conditions were different, the grip level was lower, and his bike did not feel the same.

He explained that he had expected the weekend to be easier than it was, admitting that he had made a mistake by being overconfident at first. On Friday, he struggled to find speed and only just made it into the second qualifying session, ending up ninth on the grid. Despite the slow start, he and his team worked step by step to improve the setup, and by Sunday they had found a strong rhythm.

Once the race began, Marquez looked much more comfortable on his bike. He overtook Pedro Acosta on the first lap and then passed Francesco Bagnaia on the second lap to take the lead. From that moment, he managed his pace carefully and stayed calm under pressure, keeping control of the race until the finish.

He later said that his plan had been simple but clever: attack early on, then save his tyres to avoid problems at the end of the race. The heat and humidity in Sepang can cause tyres to wear out quickly, so Marquez made sure to be gentle on the throttle and smooth with his riding. He admitted that both the front and rear tyres were tricky to manage but said he did everything the right way.

Another important part of the weekend for Márquez was securing second place in the world championship standings. After the sprint race on Saturday, he became the vice-champion, finishing behind his brother Marc Márquez in the overall points. With that goal achieved, Alex said he was able to ride with more freedom on Sunday and focus only on winning the race instead of protecting his position in the standings.

He explained that on Saturday, he had been too careful and thought too much about the championship instead of attacking. On Sunday, his mindset changed, and he rode with confidence and determination. His approach worked perfectly, and he described the race as nearly perfect because his plan came together exactly as he wanted.

The victory in Malaysia showed how much Alex Márquez has grown as a MotoGP rider. He combined patience, intelligence and skill to beat some of the fastest riders in the world. The win was also a proud moment for the Gresini team, who continued to prove that they can compete at the top level.

With the result, Márquez strengthened his position as one of the main contenders for future championships. After a weekend that started with frustration but ended in celebration, he showed that persistence and smart thinking can turn even a difficult start into a winning result.
