Lewis Hamilton has shockingly admitted that he is “not looking forward” to the 2026 Formula 1 season with Ferrari.

The 2025 Formula 1 season has been a very difficult year for Ferrari and its drivers. The Las Vegas Grand Prix showed both the challenges and the small successes for the team. Lewis Hamilton started at the back of the grid in 20th place, struggling in wet conditions. It was a tough weekend, but he managed to move up through the field and finish eighth. Some of this was helped by the disqualification of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, but even so, Hamilton’s performance was not bad at all.

Howver, despite the points finish, Hamilton was far from happy. He told Sky F1 that he felt “terrible” and described 2025 as his “worst season ever” in Formula 1. Even moving from last to eighth could not change how frustrated he felt. He said he could take “zero” satisfaction from his drive, calling it a “bad weekend” from start to finish. The result was not enough to lift his mood, and it reflected the struggles he has faced throughout the year with Ferrari.

Ferrari itself is in a difficult position in the Constructors’ Championship. With only two races left, the team sits fourth, 13 points behind Red Bull and 53 behind Mercedes. Hamilton is 74 points behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, who finished fourth in Las Vegas. When asked how realistic it is for Ferrari to reach second in the standings, Hamilton said frankly: “At this rate, with my performance, we don’t [have a chance].” His honesty shows just how serious the team’s problems have been this season.

Hamilton also admitted that he is already worried about next year. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, he said he is “eager for it to end” but “not looking forward to the next one,” meaning the 2026 season. This is concerning for Ferrari, as the team hopes that the new chassis and engine rules will give Hamilton a fresh start and help the team compete for top positions. Hamilton’s words suggest he is unsure if he will be able to improve or get the results he wants.

The struggles are not only on Hamilton’s side. Ferrari president John Elkann recently criticised some members of the team, saying they were “not up to par.” He also suggested that both Hamilton and Leclerc should “focus on driving and talk less.” Tensions have been visible, from Leclerc’s angry outburst after qualifying in Las Vegas to Hamilton’s own frustration with his performances. Despite this, Ferrari will hope that both drivers can stay motivated for the last races of 2025 and prepare well for the challenges of 2026.
