MotoGP motogpfriday motogunitedstates Reports Motogp 2026 Season
Marc Márquez set the fastest time in afternoon practice after a strong late lap. The session was full of crashes and yellow flags, but several riders improved at the end. Ai Ogura finished second and Fabio Di Giannantonio took third, while the top 10 secured their places in Q2.
The afternoon practice is special, as the fastest top 10 riders will get a direct advancement to Q2 for tomorrow. However, Maverick Viñales decided after FP1 that he will not continue during this weekend due to his shoulder pain. Shortly after the start of the session, Fabio Di Giannantonio crashed out at Turn 11. Shortly after him, Jorge Martín crashed out at Turn 12, bringing out a yellow flag.
The first lap times started in a range of 2:02s. With 7 minutes in, there was a second yellow flag. Acosta continued his amazing ride as he took the lead of the session; right behind him was Francesco Bagnaia. While Marc Márquez was trying to set a lap time, it was getting cancelled due to track limits. The third yellow flag was caused by Franco Morbidelli, who crashed out at Turn 1.
After the first 10 minutes of the session, the top 10 looked as follows: Bagnaia, Acosta, Zarco, Fernández, Martín, Ogura, Mir, Bezzecchi, Alex Márquez, Quartararo.
11 minutes into the session, there was another crash caused by two riders: Ai Ogura and Acosta. However, because Ogura crashed under a yellow flag, he was put under investigation.

Marc Márquez finally managed to set a time, putting him into 6th place. Meanwhile, the riders took a quick stop in the pits before returning to the track with 40 minutes left.
Another short yellow flag was caused by Toprak Razgatlıoğlu crashing out at Turn 11. The Yamaha riders were still trying to find the pace, as the bike was lacking on the straights. The fastest Yamaha rider was Fabio Quartararo in 13th place, with his teammate Alex Rins in 16th.
Just like in the morning, the riders chose the medium rear tyre, with either soft or medium at the front.
Marco Bezzecchi, who had a really good lap start, was unable to take the lead of the session and moved to 3rd place. But he didn’t give up and tried again on his next lap.
Another yellow flag was caused by Alex Márquez, who crashed at Turn 1. With the session halfway through, the top 10 looked as follows: Bagnaia, Ogura, Fernández, Acosta, Bezzecchi, Alex Márquez, Marini, Zarco, Marc Márquez, Martín.
Ogura, surprising everyone, took the lead with a time of 2:02.073s, showing that Aprilia is powerful at this circuit. But shortly after, Marc Márquez pulled out an incredible lap and took the lead from Ogura.

With 20 minutes left, the top 10 looked as follows: Marc Márquez, Ogura, Bagnaia, Fernández, Acosta, Aldeguer, Bezzecchi, Bastianini, Alex Márquez, Marini.
Di Giannantonio, who was the best Ducati rider in the morning session, was now in the lead of the session with a time of 2:01.980s.
As the session slowly neared the end, with 15 minutes left, the riders were returning from the pits to fight for the advancing positions. The times improved, with Bastianini moving to 3rd, while Bezzecchi retook the lead of the session. It was clear that the end of the session was going to be very interesting.
Then it was Marc Márquez who took the lead from Bezzecchi. With barely 10 minutes left, the top 10 looked like this: Márquez, Bezzecchi, Acosta, Marini, Bastianini, Ogura, Martín, Fernández, Aldeguer, Zarco.
Yamaha was still struggling further down, with their fastest rider being Quartararo in 13th place. Meanwhile, Di Giannantonio was in the lead again, really close to breaking into the 2:00s.
As the riders tried to find improvements to take the lead, they missed out very closely, like Bezzecchi in second or Acosta in third. With 2 minutes left, Brad Binder crashed out and brought out a yellow flag for a moment.
However, the riders decided that advancement was more important than fighting to end up leading the session. Marc Márquez was the first to break into the 2:00 time range and took the lead of the session. With the chequered flag out, the riders were finishing their last attempts, hoping for some late improvements.
Ogura jumped to 2nd place, while Bezzecchi was without improvement, hoping he would not be pushed out of the top 10 by other riders.
Marc Márquez ended the session in the lead, with an exceptional ride from Ai Ogura in second. The top 3 was rounded out by Di Giannantonio. The rest of the advancing riders were: Bezzecchi, Alex Márquez, Acosta, Martín, Bagnaia, Marini, Bastianini.
