The afternoon short sprint race was under cloudy weather. The start went well for Luca Marini, only for Fermín Aldeguer to overtake him into Turn 1. Marco Bezzecchi, starting from pole, fell back to 8th place. At Turn 3, Marini lost position to Raúl Fernández. Marc Márquez, trying to overtake, almost took out Alex Rins.

The first yellow flag of the race was out and was caused by Somkiat Chantra crashing. But Pedro Acosta made his way up to 2nd place, fighting with Fernández for position.

After the first lap, the top 10 looked as follows: Aldeguer, Acosta, Fernández, Marini, Rins, Bezzecchi, Márquez, Morbidelli, Binder, Mir.

However, there was an incident between Marc Márquez and Alex Rins, which ended in Márquez receiving a long-lap penalty, as he had caused contact during the sprint start. Marc didn’t waste time and served the long-lap straight away.

On lap 3, Marini lost position to Bezzecchi, only to take it back—creating an interesting battle for 4th place.

The second yellow flag was out, caused by Enea Bastianini crashing at Turn 16. Meanwhile, at the front, riders were packed together. Acosta was close to Aldeguer, while Bezzecchi sent it in on Marini, but Marini took his position back into the next turn.

Alex Rins received a track limit warning. On lap 5, Pedro Acosta crashed from 2nd place at Turn 2 but rejoined the race in 17th.

Marini, who had started well, was now slowly dropping from the front. The top 10 on lap 5 looked like this: Aldeguer, Fernández, Bezzecchi, Rins, Marini, Morbidelli, Binder, Mir, Di Giannantonio, Oliveira.

Meanwhile, Marc Márquez, who had dropped due to the long-lap penalty, was making his way back up and was now in 11th place. However, on lap 7, Aldeguer received a track limit warning, which could end in a long-lap penalty.

On lap 8, Bezzecchi overtook Fernández and moved into 2nd place. On lap 11, Johann Zarco crashed out in sector 4, causing another yellow flag. The top 10 looked like this: Aldeguer, Bezzecchi, Fernández, Rins, Mir, Marini, Márquez, Morbidelli, Di Giannantonio, Binder.

On the last lap, Bezzecchi overtook Aldeguer. Aldeguer tried to respond but was unsuccessful. Fabio Quartararo also crashed out.

In the end, Marco Bezzecchi won the sprint race, with Fermín Aldeguer in second, and Raúl Fernández achieving his first-ever MotoGP podium in third.
