Nico Bulega is set to keep racing with the Aruba.it Ducati team in World Superbike, building on his impressive track record. Starting in 2026, the talented Italian rider will also take on the role of official test rider for Ducati in MotoGP, playing a key part in developing the new Desmosedici for the 2027 season rule changes.
Nico Bulega will continue racing with the Aruba.it Racing, which is a Ducati team in World of Superbike (WorldSBK), so it doesn’t come as a big surprise, due to his consistent performance. But there is even more good news for the young Italian rider, because starting in 2026, he will also become an official test rider for Ducati in MotoGP. This means he will help develop the new Ducati Desmosedici for the rule change in 2027.
Bulega has steadily climbed the ranks in motorcycle racing. He was the Junior GP Champion in 2015 and quickly made a name for himself with podiums in Moto3. After moving up to Moto2, he found new energy and switched to the World of Supersport (World SSP) class, where in just his second year, he dominated and won the championship. This success earned him a spot on Ducati’s factory WorldSBK team. He made an immediate impact by winning his first race and then won five more victories. One of his most famous wins was in an incredibly close race against champion Toprak Razgatlioglu at Estoril. This strong form helped him finish second overall. Now in 2025, Bulega is raising the bar even higher by leading the WorldSBK championship after five rounds, ahead of Razgatlioglu.
But while Bulega is focusing on the present, there are signs he might move to race in MotoGP in the future. And one big advantage he will bring is his experience with Pirelli tires, which are used in WorldSBK. Starting in 2027, MotoGP will switch from Michelin to Pirelli as well. So Bulega’s knowledge will be valuable in helping to develop the new bike.
