MotoGP has said the Qatar Grand Prix could be in doubt because of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Race organisers are worried about safety and travel problems, and a new date may be needed if the situation does not improve.
MotoGP bosses have said that the 2026 Qatar Grand Prix might not go ahead as planned because of the serious conflict in the Middle East. The race was due to take place on 10–12 April at the famous Losail International Circuit in Qatar. But now organisers are worried about safety and travel problems.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, the CEO of MotoGP, said it will be “very difficult” to hold the race in April. He explained that the ongoing situation with attacks and instability in the region makes planning hard. But he also said they are working with people in Qatar and have a “Plan B” if things change.
MotoGP has ruled out moving the race to a completely different track. This means, if it can’t be held in Qatar, the event might be postponed to later in the season, but no new date has been chosen yet.
The World Endurance Championship (WEC) has already postponed its own big race in Qatar because of the same conflict. Many teams and officials are now watching what happens next, including other motorsport events like Formula 1 in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
MotoGP will continue with its season as planned, starting soon in Brazil and Texas, and will make a final call about Qatar closer to the date.
