Red Bull's Helmut Marko has confirmed that the team's 2025 driver lineup will be revealed after the Singapore Grand Prix. While Yuki Tsunoda has already secured his spot for a fifth season, the decision on his teammate remains unclear, with Daniel Ricciardo, Liam Lawson, and Isack Hadjar all in contention.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has announced that the team will reveal the driver lineup after the Singapore Grand Prix, as they have yet to name Yuki Tsunoda’s teammate for the 2025 season.
Earlier this year, Tsunoda was confirmed for his fifth season with the team, previously known as AlphaTauri. However, it remains unclear whether the team will retain Daniel Ricciardo for another year.
If Ricciardo doesn’t stay, Red Bull might turn to Liam Lawson, who stepped in for Ricciardo last year after the Australian driver suffered a hand injury at Zandvoort. Another contender for the seat is Isack Hadjar, who is currently battling for the F2 title, and the youngster could be promoted to a race seat in F1.
"We have an idea, so just wait until Singapore," Marko told Viaplay. "It's still September, and we’ll have a clearer picture then. It will become evident what will happen with the remaining 2025 seat."
Previously, Marko told Austria’s Kleine Zeitung that Lawson will be in one of the cars next year, suggesting that Lawson could possibly replace Ricciardo. Lawson also tested a Red Bull RB20 earlier this year, which could be seen as a potential audition for a Red Bull seat, as the team considered replacing Sergio Perez. However, Red Bull chose to keep Perez until the end of the season, suggesting the driver might not be there next year.
Although Perez has a contract until the end of 2025, his future remains uncertain. Christian Horner addressed Marko’s earlier statement about Lawson, clarifying: "I asked him, quite clearly, and he said he’ll have a drive in Formula 1 next year. We could rent him out. Nothing is fixed. If we don’t take up the option on Liam, he’ll be a free driver for 2025."
Lawson was also in the running for a seat at Williams after the Dutch Grand Prix, but the team chose their own junior driver, Franco Colapinto, instead. If Red Bull confirms its 2025 lineup, the only remaining seat on the grid would be at Sauber.
