According to Swiss newspaper Blick, Bernie Ecclestone, the man who once ruled the sport with an iron grip remains sharp, content, and quietly amused by his own longevity.

“I don’t think about it, because at my age you no longer count in years,” Ecclestone told veteran journalist Roger Benoit of Blick. “Even if I’m aching more often now,” he added with a smile, joking that his daily pills “are multiplying.”

Ecclestone, who continues to avoid alcohol – “I need milk and fruit juices,” he quipped – now leads a peaceful life with his wife Fabiana (47) and their five-year-old son Ace on their farm in Ampero, near São Paulo.

“My greatest wish has come true,” he told Blick. “I can now talk to my son Ace. And with Fabiana, I’ve never been so happy.”

The man who transformed Formula 1

Bernie Ecclestone became a central figure in Formula 1 in the 1970s and 1980s. Through his business acumen and relentless negotiating skills, he transformed the sport from a loosely organized series into a global powerhouse – a professional, commercial product worth billions in TV rights and sponsorships. Under his leadership, Formula 1 expanded into Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas, attracting hundreds of millions of fans worldwide.

Although Ecclestone sold his stake to investment group CVC Capital Partners in 2006, he remained involved in the sport until 2017, when Liberty Media took over and replaced him with Chase Carey.

Today, Ecclestone lives quietly away from the spotlight, but his influence on Formula 1 remains undeniable. As Blick noted, the man who built the modern F1 empire may no longer count the years, yet the history of motorsport will never stop counting his impact.
