Formula 1 Alpine F1 Team 2026 F1 season Jack Doohan

Jack Doohan has parted ways with Alpine by mutual agreement and will not remain with the team for the 2026 Formula 1 season, bringing his short F1 spell to an end as he looks to continue his career elsewhere.

Jack Doohan will not continue with the Alpine Formula 1 Team into the 2026 Formula 1 season, after both sides agreed to end their cooperation.

The Australian joined Alpine’s academy during his Formula 2 career and became the first graduate to reach the team’s F1 race seat. He made his grand prix debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi finale before stepping into a full-time role in 2025.

However, Alpine entered the season with several reserve drivers on its books, including Franco Colapinto, and Doohan struggled to make a strong impression early on. Over the opening races, he was usually behind team-mate Pierre Gasly in qualifying and failed to score points, with 13th place being his best race result.

After six races, Alpine decided to reshuffle its line-up. Colapinto was promoted to the race seat, while Doohan returned to a reserve role with limited simulator and track duties. The 22-year-old admitted at the time that the decision was difficult to accept and made his future with the team uncertain.

That uncertainty has now been resolved, with Doohan choosing to leave the Enstone-based squad entirely. He is expected to continue his career outside Formula 1, with a move to Japan’s Super Formula Championship being discussed. A potential programme with Kondo Racing has not yet been confirmed, following a challenging Suzuka test where Doohan suffered multiple crashes.

In a short statement, Alpine thanked Doohan for his professionalism and commitment during his four years with the organisation and wished him well for the next stage of his career.

For Doohan, the split brings an end to his Formula 1 chapter – at least for now – and opens the door to a fresh start elsewhere in top-level single-seater racing.
