Häkkinen will take the next step in her racing career in 2026, joining Jenzer Motorsport for her first season in single-seaters in the F4 Central European Zone Championship.
Ella Häkkinen is set to move into single-seater racing for the first time in 2026, as she joins Jenzer Motorsport in the F4 Central European Zone Championship. It marks a significant step in the development of one of the most closely watched young drivers, not only because of her growing experience, but also her background.
As the daughter of two-time Formula 1 world champion Mika Häkkinen, expectations naturally follow her progress. However, her path into Formula 4 comes through steady development, including her place in the McLaren Driver Development Programme, which she joined in late 2025 as its youngest member.
The move to Jenzer Motorsport offers a strong platform. The Swiss team has dominated the F4 CEZ championship in recent years, securing both drivers’ and teams’ titles for three consecutive seasons. That level of consistency makes it a proven environment for young drivers taking their first steps in single-seaters.
For Häkkinen, the focus will be on learning rather than immediate results. Transitioning from junior categories into Formula 4 brings a steep learning curve, from adapting to increased downforce and tyre management to understanding race craft at a higher level.
“I’m proud to start a new chapter with such an experienced and competitive team such as Jenzer Motorsport, along with the support from the McLaren Driver Development Programme. This is a big step in my journey, and I’m motivated more than ever to keep progressing," Häkkinen said in the press releaee.
Jenzer Motorsport is approaching the partnership with a clear plan, emphasising development and patience rather than pressure.
“We will support her in the same way we support all our drivers. The beginning of a Formula 4 career is always about building confidence and understanding the car. Our goal is to give her the right environment to grow," said team owner Andreas Jenzer.
Häkkinen will be part of a six-driver line-up, meaning she will benefit from direct comparison within a competitive internal structure. That can often accelerate progress, particularly for rookies learning the demands of a full race weekend.
