Formula 1 Lewis Hamilton Ferrari F1 Silverstone Reports f1friday

The session was calm, the only interruption was a yellow flag caused by Oscar Piastri as he spun and went off track. The drivers tested all types of tires, mainly they drove on hards and softs. Ferrari and Mercedes did well, they finished in top 5, which Oscar Piastri rounded out.

The majority of the drivers got on the track at the beginning of the session. Max Verstappen was the last one to join the track. As the drivers completed their first fast attempts, everyone on hard tires, Hamilton got on top with the Mercedes, Charles Leclerc and Verstappen behind.

15 minutes into the practice Isack Hadjar topped the standings ahead of Kimi Antonelli, Verstappen, Oscar Piastri and the Ferrari. By this time Alexander Albon had a moment in Turn 1 as he went off track. Three minutes later, Lando Norris, running on the seventh, aborted his fast lap and went straight into the boxes for no particular reason.

20 minutes into the session both Mercedeses improved and Antonelli got on top with time 1:30.777 seconds, his teammate George Russell lined up third. Meanwhile half of the grid went into the boxes.

After a couple of minutes the drivers returned on the track to drive more fast laps. Hamilton had a good lap and topped the standings with gap on Antonelli of 0. 256 second. With 25 minutes remaining there was a yellow flag as Oscar Piastri spun and went off track. He stopped far enough away of the wall, though.

Later, Pierre Gasly reported on the radio that his Alpine is very unpredictable and Sergio Perez radioed that his helmet is not properly tightened. With 20 minutes remaining all drivers except for Hamilton, the Racing Bulls and Valtteri Bottas went into the boxes.

A couple of minutes later, Arvid Lindblad reported on the radio that the grip is much better than he expected. With ten minutes remaining many cars pitted for soft tires and the times significantly improved, it even dropped below 1:30 seconds. The Mercedes got on top with Charles Leclerc, the McLarens and Hadjar behind. As Hamilton drove his fast attempt on the softs, he was the fastest.

As the session came to an end, Hamilton remained on top with Antonelli, Leclerc, Russell and Piastri behind. After the practice drivers practiced the starts.
