MotoGP Motogp 2026 Season Motogp testing Fabio Quartararo Yamaha Racing
Yamaha MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo will miss the final two days of testing in Sepang after a fast crash left him with a broken finger. The 2021 world champion has chosen to rest and recover before the next test in Thailand.
Fabio Quartararo, the Yamaha MotoGP rider and 2021 world champion, will not ride for the final two days of the 2026 Sepang test in Malaysia. He said this after crashing at high speed during the first day of official testing.
The crash happened at Turn 5 in the morning session of the test. After the fall, Fabio had to go to the medical centre for a check-up. He was able to ride again in the afternoon and finished the day ninth fastest on the new Yamaha V4 bike.
However, Fabio hurt his finger in the crash and it was later confirmed to be broken. He also said his arm felt sore. Because of this, he said it was better to stop testing now so he can recover in time for the next test in Buriram, Thailand, on 21–22 February.
Fabio spoke about his decision in an interview on the official MotoGP.com website. He said, “The arm is a bit sore, but the finger is broken… so we’ve decided to stop for the next two days of the test. I think it’s for the best.”
He also explained the crash. He said he lost control very quickly and didn’t really know why. It was a fast crash and he slid deep into the gravel. He said he was unlucky, but it could have been much worse.
Yamaha team boss Massimo Meregalli had suggested earlier that Fabio might stop testing after the crash.
So far this week, Fabio has already had two full days of track time thanks to Yamaha’s special testing allowance.
On the performance of the Yamaha V4 bike, Fabio was honest. He said the team tried many things, but the bike is still very far from where it needs to be. He said they especially need more speed over one lap. He knows the team is working hard, and he hopes things will be better by the next test in Thailand.
