Formula 1 star Lando Norris may get the chance to ride a MotoGP bike in the future. The idea comes from Guenther Steiner, the former Haas team boss, who now has a leading role with the Tech3 KTM MotoGP team.
Steiner said that Norris would be welcome to test a KTM MotoGP bike if everything can be agreed. He shared this idea while speaking on The Red Flags podcast.
Lando Norris is well known as a big fan of MotoGP. He has often spoken about Valentino Rossi, the MotoGP legend, as one of his heroes. Norris even uses bright neon colours in his own racing style, inspired by Rossi’s famous designs.
Guenther Steiner recently helped a group take control of the Tech3 KTM MotoGP team. He is expected to return as CEO in 2026. Because of this, he now has the power to invite famous drivers from other racing series.
Steiner said the KTM bike would suit Norris well. He joked that the bike’s orange colour is very close to McLaren’s papaya colour. He also said they could find a way to organise a test ride.
However, there could be some problems. Norris would need permission from McLaren CEO Zak Brown. Teams are usually careful about letting their drivers ride fast motorcycles because of the risk of injury.
There may also be sponsorship issues. Norris is linked with Monster Energy, while KTM is strongly connected to Red Bull. These business deals sometimes make cross-series events difficult.
Still, the idea is exciting for fans. Liberty Media now owns both Formula 1 and MotoGP, and they like projects that bring the two sports closer together.
In the past, similar events have been very popular. In 2019, Valentino Rossi and Lewis Hamilton swapped machines in Valencia. Hamilton rode a Yamaha MotoGP bike, while Rossi drove a Mercedes Formula 1 car.
If a Norris MotoGP test happens one day, it could become another special moment linking the worlds of Formula 1 and MotoGP.
