The opening Friday Free Practice 1 session delivered thrilling action under sunny skies as riders pushed early to set the pace. Marc Márquez dominated with an impressive 1:46.974 lap, leading ahead of his brother Alex Márquez and a late-charging Marco Bezzecchi. The session saw multiple lead changes, surprise performances, and key riders missing, setting the tone for an exciting race weekend.
The Friday Free Practice 1 session started under sunny weather conditions. As the timer began, the riders immediately headed out onto the track. Two riders were missing from the session: Luca Marini and Ai Ogura, who were announced as absentees shortly before the start.
After the riders completed their warm-up laps, the first timed laps began to come in. Times initially ranged between 1:53 and 1:51, with Johann Zarco leading early on. Joan Mir followed closely behind, but it didn’t take long for Zarco to lose the top spot to Maverick Viñales.
Yamaha didn’t show much pace at the start. Their fastest rider at the time was Jack Miller, who was in 7th place. At the front, Alex Márquez briefly took the lead, only to be overtaken moments later by Pedro Acosta. However, it took just seven minutes for Marc Márquez to take control of the session, leading with times already dipping into the 1:49s.
As Marc finished a fast lap, Acosta responded with a time in the 1:48s, yet Marc struck back with a blistering 1:47.665. Marco Bezzecchi continued his strong form and moved into 3rd place but was soon bumped to 4th by Alex Márquez. Francesco Bagnaia, who had been quiet early in the session, improved to 8th place.
With 13 minutes gone, some riders returned to the garage, giving others on track a chance to push for faster laps in cleaner air. Fabio Quartararo used the opportunity to climb to 10th, while Bagnaia advanced to 3rd. Viñales, once leading the session, had slipped to 17th but managed to recover to 13th place. At the halfway mark of the session, only four riders remained on track.
With 25 minutes left, Marc Márquez returned for his second run, and other riders slowly began to rejoin as well. Joan Mir, attempting a flying lap, made a mistake and ran wide into the gravel. With 20 minutes remaining, Marc still held the lead. The gap between the leader and the slowest rider was around 3 seconds, with Somkiat Chantra and Lorenzo Savadori lapping in the 1:50s, while Marc pushed toward the 1:46 range.

Fermín Aldeguer was in 15th place at this stage, while the VR46 duo of Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli were 9th and 13th, respectively. Pedro Acosta climbed back to 3rd. Interestingly, Augusto Fernández held 12th ahead of Quartararo, and Johann Zarco moved up to 5th, continuing as the top Honda rider.
Marc Márquez then became the first rider to break into the 1:46s, setting a time of 1:46.974. His brother Alex was still second, with Mir now in third ahead of Bezzecchi. Meanwhile, Quartararo, trying to improve, was being pushed further down the order by others but eventually managed to climb to 12th.
With 10 minutes left, some riders returned to the garage or came back out for their final runs. Alex Rins moved up to 6th, becoming the best-placed Yamaha rider. Viñales continued his strong showing, jumping to 3rd, with Rins right behind in 4th. Fabio Quartararo made his first appearance in the top 10, moving into 9th place. However, the VR46 duo had slipped to 14th and 15th.
As the timer ran out and riders completed their final attempts, Marc Márquez secured first place. Morbidelli improved to 9th, and Fermín Aldeguer jumped to 7th. In the final moments, Bezzecchi improved to 3rd, rounding out the top three.
