Formula 1 has confirmed that the Miami Grand Prix will stay on the calendar until 2041, after extending its current agreement by ten years.
The Miami Grand Prix became part of the Formula 1 calendar in 2022. Originally, the race was signed to stay until 2031, but thanks to its growing popularity and success, the contract has now been extended by another ten years.
This means the event will remain on the calendar until at least 2041, making it the longest-running race deal in the sport. It has now overtaken the Australian Grand Prix, which is confirmed until 2037.
The Miami event has quickly gained attention both at the track and on television. In 2023, a record 275,000 fans attended over the race weekend, setting a new circuit record. The following year, the 2024 Miami Grand Prix attracted a US television audience of 3.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched Formula 1 race ever in the United States.
Held at the Miami International Autodrome, the track winds its way around the Hard Rock Stadium, home to the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. Since 2024, the event has featured a sprint format, adding more racing action throughout the weekend.
“In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar, an extraordinary example of quality and vision that truly represents the spirit and ambition of Formula 1 in the United States,” said F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.
“Extending this agreement until 2041 is a strategic milestone of enormous importance, which strengthens our presence in America and consolidates the ever-deepening bond with our fan base there, which is constantly growing and passionate like never before.
“Miami is not only an extraordinary city, but also a truly global sporting hub, energetic, dynamic and culturally vibrant.
“All this would not have been possible without the far-sighted vision and tireless commitment of Stephen Ross and Tom Garfinkel, to whom I extend my sincere gratitude for the leadership, support and dedication with which they have helped transform the Miami Grand Prix into a world-class event.”
