Fermín Aldeguer suprised the MotoGP world by taking his maiden premier class victory at the Indonesian Grand Prix. After an intense early battle with Pedro Acosta and Luca Marini, the rookie pulled away to secure a dominant win, leaving Acosta and Álex Márquez to complete the podium.
The Sunday Grand Prix of Indonesia started well for Fermín Aldeguer, but into Turn 1 it was Pedro Acosta who took the lead. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia had a terrible start and dropped to last. Marco Bezzecchi, just like yesterday, also had a poor start and lost positions. Soon after, Marc Márquez and Bezzecchi crashed in Sector 1. The stewards quickly announced that the incident would be reviewed after the race. The crash was caused by Bezzecchi, who tried to overtake Márquez on the inside where there wasn’t enough space.

After lap 1, the top 10 looked like this: Acosta, Marini, Aldeguer, Rins, Fernández, Quartararo, Álex Márquez, Mir, Binder, Morbidelli.
On lap 2, Aldeguer almost collided with Marini while trying to overtake. The second yellow flag came when Joan Mir went down. By lap 4, Aldeguer managed to pass Marini for 2nd, while Fernández overtook Rins to move into 4th.
As the race progressed, the top four riders, Acosta, Aldeguer, Marini, and Fernández, were nose to tail and building a gap to the rest. Remarkably, all four were still chasing their first MotoGP victory.
On lap 7, Aldeguer overtook Acosta on the inside. Acosta briefly retook the lead, but Aldeguer fought back at Turn 1.
On lap 9, Bagnaia crashed at Turn 17, ending the day for the factory Ducati team. Marini caught Acosta and passed him, but Acosta immediately struck back to reclaim 2nd place.
On lap 12, Marini once again overtook Acosta, and Fernández briefly slipped through as well, only to run wide and drop back. Acosta capitalized to retake his spot and continued battling with Marini. At the same time, Enea Bastianini retired from the race. Further back, Álex Márquez passed Quartararo to move up to 6th. At the front, Aldeguer extended his lead to over five seconds.

Fernández then attacked Marini, and although it looked like he might not make the move stick, their battle carried on into the next turn where they made contact. That opened the door for Rins to jump into 3rd. In the chaos, Álex Márquez and others also got ahead, while Marini ran wide, allowing Quartararo and Binder to overtake him.
Meanwhile, race control announced that both Marc Márquez and Marco Bezzecchi had been sent to the medical center.
By lap 16, the top 10 were: Aldeguer, Acosta, Rins, Álex Márquez, Fernández, Quartararo, Binder, Marini, Miller, Oliveira.
On lap 19, Rins overtook Acosta for 2nd. For the first time in the race, Aldeguer’s lap pace dropped slightly compared to those behind, though he still had a gap of 7.6 seconds. Rins pulled away from Acosta, but Álex Márquez closed in and passed Acosta.
Down the main straight, Álex Márquez used the power of his Ducati to overtake Rins and move into 2nd. By now, Aldeguer had stretched his lead to over nine seconds. Binder then attacked Rins, dropping him from 3rd to 6th. Marini also recovered by overtaking Quartararo to take 7th. Binder, meanwhile, was now right behind Acosta.

With four laps to go, the order was: Aldeguer, Álex Márquez, Acosta, Binder, Fernández, Rins, Marini, Quartararo, Miller, Morbidelli.
Marini continued to climb, moving into 6th. However, Jack Miller, who had been having a solid race, crashed out at Sector 4, bringing out another yellow flag. Rins was also struggling with tire wear and dropped to 10th. Acosta reclaimed 2nd, while Marini overtook Fernández to take 5th.
In the end, Fermín Aldeguer claimed his first-ever MotoGP victory, finishing ahead of Pedro Acosta and Álex Márquez.
