The afternoon practice is special, as the fastest 10 riders earn a direct entry to Q2. As the session started, it took only 3 minutes before the rain made its appearance in some parts of the circuit. We could see riders struggling, and Brad Binder fell.

The first times started in a range of 1:22 to 1:27. The times started very fast in comparison to the morning session, where the fastest time was in the 1:26 range.

Most of the riders chose a soft rear tyre with either a soft or medium front tyre configuration. The rider who took the lead was improving his time by 0.200 compared to the rider in second. With 7 minutes in, there was a second crash of the session, as Jack Miller crashed at Turn 12.

The home hero Diogo Moreira improved a lot compared to the morning session, as he was able to move up to second place behind Zarco in the lead. The times improved even more with each finished lap. Zarco improved his time and was the first to break into the 1:21s. Meanwhile, Moreira crashed in Sector 2, 10 minutes into the session.

With 10 minutes in, the top 10 looked as follows: Zarco, Martin, Marc Márquez, Marini, Razgatlioglu, Viñales, Moreira, Acosta, Mir, Rins.

As the session progressed, the riders returned to the pits, and only a few remained on track. While a rider like Bezzecchi, who managed to break into the top 3 in the morning session, was now sitting in 19th place. Meanwhile, at the front, Marc Márquez was in second place, trying to close the gap to Zarco.

Acosta managed to improve and jumped to 4th place. The top 10 were all within 0.800 seconds of each other.

With 30 minutes left, the top 10 looked as follows: Zarco, Marc Márquez, Razgatlioglu, Marini, Acosta, Alex Márquez, Quartararo, Aldeguer, Bagnaia, Ogura. However, it started raining again, and even the fans began putting on raincoats. So there was a possibility the riders would not go back out, depending on the weather, with 22 minutes remaining.

With 10 minutes left, Bezzecchi was the first rider to return to the track, but it didn’t take long before he returned to the pits.

With barely 2 minutes left, some riders went back out on track to practice starts for tomorrow. The top 10 remained unchanged due to the rain.
