Ferrari’s first electric model, the Luce, has been met with disapproval from former chairman Luca di Montezemolo after its unveiling.
Ferrari has unveiled the Luce, its first fully electric production model, marking a major milestone in the company’s transition away from combustion engines. The car represents one of the most significant shifts in Ferrari’s modern history, as the brand moves deeper into electrification.
The design of the Luce was kept secret until the official unveiling, despite the industry’s usual issue with pre-launch leaks. Ferrari managed to preserve confidentiality right up to the presentation.
After the reveal, discussion focused heavily on the car’s design and what it signals for Ferrari’s future direction.
Former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo voiced his disapproval of the new model in comments to the media, as quoted by askanews:
"If I were to say what I really think, I’d be doing Ferrari a disservice. We risk destroying a legend, and I’m truly sorry about that. I hope they at least remove the prancing horse from that car."
He also added:
"Luce is certainly a car that at least the Chinese won’t copy."
Ferrari has not responded to the remarks. The company has previously said it aims to maintain its core identity of performance, exclusivity, and emotion even as it transitions into electrification.
