The first MotoGP practice at Balaton Park Circuit kicked off under cloudy skies with plenty of action, drama, and multiple yellow flags. Marc Márquez set the pace early, while Di Giannantonio, Acosta, and Aldeguer impressed with strong lap times. Crashes, mechanical issues, and oil on track made the 45-minute session unpredictable, but in the end, Márquez topped the timesheets.

First MotoGP practice on the Balaton Park circuit started under cloudy conditions. As it is during morning sessions, the riders went on the track immediately, as this session has only 45 minutes.

The first times started in a range of 1:41 to 1:45s. After the first five minutes the top three looked like this: Fabio Di Giannantonio, Pedro Acosta and Jorge Martin. Marc Márquez was in 7th place with his brother Álex behind him in 8th place. The times were still far off from what they will be once the track will have better grip. And it didn’t take long for Marc to take the lead, but he got his time deleted due to track limits. Yamaha, who didn’t have a good weekend in Austria, was now performing much better, with Fabio Quartararo in 5th place.

With 10 minutes in, Marc was now settled in 2nd place, while Di Giannantonio was only improving his time more, as he got into a range of 1:39s. Shortly after, even Fermín Aldeguer joined him, improving to 3rd place, while Marc jumped to the lead. On the start/finish line just 11 minutes in, Jorge Martin parked his bike into the gravel as his motor stopped working, causing a yellow flag.

After 13 minutes in, the top 5 looked as follows: Di Giannantonio, Marc, Aldeguer, Álex and Acosta. A second yellow flag was out, due to another motor blowing out, this time for Raul Fernandez also riding an Aprilia. This time, the session was stopped, as a load of oil got onto the track, making it unsafe for others. Soon the session was resumed, and the riders returned back on track. Martin returned to action with his second bike, and he was in 6th place.

The third yellow flag was caused by Franco Morbidelli crashing at Turn 1. Shortly before, Jack Miller made a mistake and ran wide into the gravel trap at Turn 1. And joining him was Bezzecchi, who also went into the gravel, this time at Turn 16, as he wasn’t able to brake that hard into the turn. With the session being halfway done, Marc was in the lead with a time of 1:38.908.

The top 5 looked as follows: Marc, Di Giannantonio, Luca Marini, Jack Miller and Acosta. So far, Marc was the only one in the 1:38s range. Joining Acosta in the top 5 were Enea Bastianini with Pol Espargaro, who is here to step in for injured Maverick Viñales. Espargaro is one of the riders who already rode here, having experience from this track, which he was showing with 2nd place.

With 15 minutes left, there was a fourth yellow flag, caused by a second crash from Morbidelli who crashed at Turn 15. So far the top 10 looked like this: Marc, Espargaro, Bezzecchi, Acosta, Bastianini, Marini, Di Giannantonio, Aldeguer, Miller and Morbidelli. The riders were all in boxes, to talk to their mechanics and prepare for the final stints of the session.

The tires of choice were soft on the front and medium in the back, one exception in this was Brad Binder who chose hard at the front. And with 6 minutes left, the riders were back in action, already doing measured laps. Marini continued to impress as he improved to 2nd place, showing solid results this whole session. But Acosta soon put in an incredible lap and moved to 2nd place.

Meanwhile Marc improved his time going into the 1:37 range, but as he went into Turn 1, he was unable to brake that hard in time, immediately throwing away an attempt. And while Marc was in the lead, Francesco Bagnaia continued to struggle as he was able to improve only to 14th. Acosta, who started a very good lap, and it looked like he could take the lead, made a mistake and ran wide, getting the lap canceled. At the end of the session, Jack Miller crashed at Turn 12. The top 10 ended the session in the following order: Marc, Espargaro, Acosta, Marini, Álex, Bezzecchi, Morbidelli, Bastianini, Aldeguer and Martin.
