The first Grand Prix of the 2026 season was finally here. After an eventful sprint race on Saturday, the stakes were high.

This time, Marco Bezzecchi had a great start and was able to hold his position safely. Alex Márquez also had a decent start and managed to overtake Pedro Acosta, moving into sixth place. At the front, Raúl Fernández overtook Marc Márquez and moved up to second. Marc almost lost another position at the start of lap two to Jorge Martín.

After lap one, the top ten were: Bezzecchi, Fernández, M. Márquez, Martín, Di Giannantonio, Acosta, A. Márquez, Mir, Binder and Bagnaia.

Further down the grid, Acosta fought hard to get his sixth place back and soon caught up with Di Giannantonio, waiting for a chance to overtake.

Bezzecchi, leading the race, built a gap of over one second to Fernández in second place and also set the fastest lap. Meanwhile, Marc Márquez was defending his position from Martín.

At the end of lap three, at turn 12, Acosta overtook Di Giannantonio and moved into fifth place. Martín then passed Marc Márquez to take third, securing an Aprilia podium position at that moment.

Acosta soon caught up with Marc Márquez and overtook him again, just like yesterday, at the final corner.

Most riders chose a soft front tyre and a medium rear tyre. At the front, Bezzecchi slowly increased his gap, while Fernández also created a 1.7-second gap to Martín in third.

Riding in fourth place, Acosta showed incredible pace and had already caught Martín by lap six. Further down the grid, Fabio Quartararo was in 15th place.

At the end of lap eight, Acosta tried to overtake Martín but took a bad racing line and immediately lost the position. At the next corner, he tried again but ran wide, and Martín took the place back. This battle allowed Marc Márquez to catch up.

Acosta attacked Martín once more and this time held his position. The fight lasted several laps, and Marc Márquez used the opportunity to overtake Martín and then Acosta. However, Acosta fought back and regained third place from Márquez.

After 11 laps, the top ten were: Bezzecchi, Fernández, Acosta, M. Márquez, Martín, Di Giannantonio, Mir, A. Márquez, Bagnaia and Binder.

Acosta created a gap of over two seconds to Marc Márquez in fourth and then began catching Fernández in second.

Further down the field, Ogura overtook both Bagnaia and Alex Márquez. On lap 21, Marc Márquez suffered a rear tyre problem and had to retire from the race, bringing out a yellow flag in sector three. With five laps to go, Alex Márquez crashed out in sector two.

At the front, there was a battle for second place. Acosta managed to overtake Fernández and moved into second. Joan Mir later suffered technical problems and slowly returned to the pits, also retiring from the race.

There was also a short battle for fifth place between Di Giannantonio and Ogura, but it did not last long. Ogura overtook on the inside and moved into fifth.

As the riders started the final lap, Bezzecchi had a six-second gap to the rider in second place. Aprilia had four riders in the top five, making it an incredible result for the team.

Marco Bezzecchi won the season opener, with Pedro Acosta in second and Raúl Fernández finishing third.
