Formula 1 George Russell Mercedes Reports F1 Austria 2026 F1 season

First quarter of the session was without any action as all cars except for Perez were in the garages. The practice wasn’t interrupted at all as all drivers spent less time on the track compared to previous sessions. Kimi Antonelli was on the first place most of the time but at the end George Russell was faster and won.

Sergio Perez was the first one on the track. His car broke down in both previous sessions so the Cadillac was lacking a lot of important data. After ten minutes Colapinto, Hulkenberg and Hadjar joined him on the track as more cars came out of the boxes.

17 minutes into the session Lando Norris topped the standings with his first fast time 1:07:832 seconds on soft tires. Behind him lined up Hamilton, Russell and Hadjar. As more drivers completed their first fast attempts Kimi Antonelli got on top with time 1:07:533 seconds. His teammate George Russell was running second with gap of 0. 173 second.

Red Bull seemed to fix their problems from yesterday, both drivers didn’t complain as much as in previous sessions, even though Max Verstappen reported on the radio that he needs to change his earplugs and balaclava.

In the middle of the last practice Lando Norris had a moment again in Turn 3 as he went off the track. Meanwhile Antonelli pitted for new fresh set of soft tires and drove new fastest lap of 1:07:134 seconds with Russell, Leclerc, Verstappen and Piastri behind.

With 20 minutes remaining half of the grid was in the boxes and there wasn’t much action on the track. After five minutes they rejoined the track and drove a couple of last fast laps. by this time Alonso reported on the radio that he has troubles turning the car.

12 minutes until the end Charles Leclerc ran wide in Turn 3 and had to abort his fast lap. His teammate Lewis Hamilton lined up second ahead of Russell, Norris and Verstappen. As the session was coming to an end Arvid Lindblad complained on the radio that he doesn’t have much confidence with his breaks.

With four minutes left many cars returned into the boxes but Russell topped the standings with time 1:07:096 seconds with Antonelli, Hamilton and the McLarens behind. When the practice ended the drivers practiced starts.
