The afternoon practice was very busy, with riders pushing hard to get into Q2. Lap times kept getting faster, there were a few yellow flags, and some riders had problems with crashes and their bikes. The fight for the top 10 was very close, and the order changed many times before the session ended.
Afternoon practice is special, as the fastest top 10 riders earn a direct advance to Q2, this session is 60 minutes long, with riders battling for the positions close to the end.
The first times started in the time range of 1:30s to 1:32s. With each new lap the riders were improving their times, and slowly were coming close to the 1:29s time range. With 5 minutes in, there was first yellow flag, caused by Augusto Fernández crashing at sector 2. The top 10 looked as following: Bezzecchi, Acosta, Fernández, Mir, Zarco, Márquez, Quartararo, Rins, Bagnaia, Miller.
For the afternoon session the tyre options were much different. Some riders chose to have soft rear while others chose medium rear tyre. Yet the medium at the front was chosen by majority of the grid.
As the session progressed, the riders weren’t able to improve the times more, mostly having fastest first sector and then they slowed a bit in the other sectors. With 12 minutes in, Marco Bezzecchi crashed out at Turn 4, bringing out the yellow flag. Later was Bezzecchi seen being pushed back to pits by the Marshals.

And with 15 minutes in, the riders returned to the pits. The top 10 looked as following: Bezzecchi, Acosta, Raul Fernández, Quartararo, Mir, Morbidelli, Zarco, Miller, Márquez, Di Giannantonio.
Overall, the times were really close, and most riders on the grid were in the 1:30s time range. Meanwhile Di Giannantonio took the lead from Bezzecchi, while his teammate Morbidelli improved to 2nd place. To add to it, Ogura had crashed at turn 3, bringing out yellow flag.
And as the session came to the half way mark, Pedro Acosta became the first rider to get into 1:29s time range, taking the lead of the session, while Bagnaia was out of the top 10.
Quartararo, who just left the pits, had a technical problem and he left the track, going back to the pits. As it was seen, there was smoke from his bike and leakage of some fluids.

As the session slowly neared its end, the riders were still in the pits, before they went on track, to fight for the advancing positions. With 18 minutes left, the top 10 looked as following: Acosta, Di Giannantonio, Morbidelli, Bezzecchi, Ogura, Aldeguer, Raul Fernández, Mir, Quartararo, Marini.
And as the measured laps started, Jack Miller improved his time and moved to 2nd place, while Raul Fernandez jumped to 3rd place. But that wasn’t for long, as Morbidelli improved to 3rd place, pushing Fernández down. But the improvements didn’t stop there, Mir improved to 4th pushing Zarco to 6th place.
And soon Márquez jumped to 2nd place, with Di Giannantonio in 3rd. Meanwhile Bagnaia continued to struggle to break into the top 10. While Quartararo managed to improve and he moved to 4th place. The other riders mostly returned to the pits for their final stop. Bagnaia who had started very good lap, which would get him into the top 10, went into the pits, abandoning his lap.
After a quick stop, the riders were back on the track. Bezzecchi had again jumped to 2nd place, and was very close to taking the lead. While Miller improved to 3rd place. Meanwhile Bagnaia had improved to 9th place, but soon after was pushed out from the top 10. However, Ai Ogura surprised and he got into 3rd place, soon pushed down to 4th by Morbidelli.
Márquez improved his time and he improved to 4th place, pushing Ogura down. And with the chequered flag out, the riders were finishing their last flying attempt. Bagnaia was unable to break into the top 10 in the end. And the riders having direct entry to Q2 were: Acosta, Bezzecchi, Morbidelli, Márquez, Ogura, Miller, Di Giannantonio, Aldeguer, Mir, Quartararo.
