MotoGP Ducati Lenovo team Motogp 2026 Season motogpregulations Summaries
Ducati will continue racing with its powerful 2024 MotoGP engine until the end of the current 1000cc era in 2026. The Italian manufacturer sees no reason to build a new engine before the sport switches to 850cc machines in 2027.
Ducati has decided it will continue to use its very strong 2024 MotoGP engine until the end of the current 1000cc rules in MotoGP. The present engine rules will stay the same until the end of the 2026 season, and after that the sport will move to smaller 850cc engines in 2027.
Ducati believes there is no reason to design a completely new engine for only two seasons. The 2024 engine has already proved that it is powerful, reliable and very difficult to beat. Because of this, the company will keep using the same basic engine design for 2025 and 2026.
The engine is used in the Ducati Desmosedici race bike. It has given the team a clear advantage over its rivals. In the 2024 season, Ducati bikes won most of the races. Francesco Bagnaia took many victories, while Jorge Martin became world champion. Enea Bastianini also won races and showed how competitive the bikes were. This success proved that the 2024 engine was a major step forward.
Under the current MotoGP rules, engine development is restricted. Manufacturers cannot freely change their engines every year. Because of this freeze in development, Ducati feels confident keeping the same engine and focusing on improving other parts of the bike, such as aerodynamics, electronics and chassis balance.
From 2027, MotoGP will introduce new technical rules. The engine size will be reduced from 1000cc to 850cc. The aim is to make the bikes a little slower, safer and more environmentally friendly. All manufacturers, including Ducati, will need to build completely new engines for that new era.
Until then, Ducati plans to continue racing with its proven and unbeatable 2024 engine, hoping it will bring even more wins before the big rule changes arrive.
