Isack Hadjar will line up at the back of the grid for Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix after Red Bull introduced several new power unit components on his car.

The team has exceeded its seasonal allocation of the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), Turbocharger and Exhaust, resulting in cumulative grid penalties. Under Formula 1 regulations, the first use of an additional component carries a 10-place grid penalty, while subsequent excess elements incur five-place penalties.

Because Hadjar's total penalty exceeds 15 grid places, the Frenchman is automatically relegated to the rear of the field regardless of where he qualifies.

Spa-Francorchamps has long been regarded as one of the most favourable circuits for taking engine penalties, thanks to its long straights and multiple overtaking opportunities that give drivers a realistic chance of recovering positions during the race.

Hadjar currently sits eighth in the drivers' championship with 52 points and will now face a recovery drive from the back on Sunday.

Two other drivers have also received engine-related penalties for the Belgian Grand Prix. Lando Norris will drop 10 places after exceeding his allocation of Control Electronics, while Lance Stroll has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for taking a new MGU-K.
